I was impressed with the diversity in landscapes on the Track. From the Perth hills, karri forest, low lying plains and coastal Beaches. Everyday offered something different, I never got bored walking. Thank you to all the volunteers, who maintain the Track.
Dehydrated homemade meals were a winner.
Walking Donnelly River to Pemberton.
Blackwood campsite, walk from Rame Head to Peaceful Bay. Trudging through Pingerup Plains, the night sky filled with stars, negotiating large fallen down trees, learning so much abouts wildflowers and wildlife and experiencing natures power walking through the hail, wind’, rain and heat.
An experience I will never forget. Losing track of time and simply enjoying the challenge of each day’s walk was the best feeling. At the end I fels nostalgic that the big trek was over. I felt fit and unstoppable, like I could have kept on walking and walking….
It not made me physically more fit but mentally I felt a sense of clarity.
The walk has given me the reinforced self-belief that if you set your mind to something, anything is possible.
Saw 19 snakes in the last week alone. Lots of kangaroos, birds, emus.
Your Best Equipment
Jetboil stove and Kindle.
Your Worst Equipment
Nothing, everthing was used.
Advice for Others
Walking 1000 km is not as daunting as it sounds. I enjoyed the journey so much and I encourage others to get out there and see how beautiful the WA landscape is.
