Walking the Bibbulmun Track is a wonderful way to discover Australia. The path taking you through an incredible diversity of landscapes gives you the chance to approach the fabulous and unique wildlife of this corner of the world.
Food/Supplies Comments
We posted a 5 kg parcel to Dwellingup and then picked up our food in local towns.
Favourite Section
My favourite section is the whole track. I have enjoyed every single minute of our 71 day journey.
Highlights
Wildflowers, the first blue wren, kangaroo, cockatoo, tiger snake, motor bike frog…, Boonerring Hill, the King Karri tree at Donnelly River, top of Mt Chance, Mandalay Bay, bird concert at dawn and dusk, the walk following the canoe ride through the Quarram Nature reserve, the trombone recital on Christmas eve at West Cape Howe, meeting some characters of the Track.
Personal Reactions
Such a rewarding experience. Never felt so relax in my entire life. I feel grateful for the messages of kindness left by fellow walkers who passed us on the Track. Many thanks to BTF vollies and everyone looking after the campsites and the path making it possible for others to walk in such good and safe conditions.
Wildlife
Kangaroos, wallabies, emus, so many beautiful birds, a feral cat, 16 snakes, 3 stick insects, spiders, flies, march flies, butterflies, ticks, mosquitos, frogs, lizards, goannas, cicadas, surfing dolphins, stingrays…
Your Best Equipment
Enthusiasm and curiosity, fly-net, Thermorest trekker mat (6 cm!), pocket rocket, light tent.
Your Worst Equipment
None.
Advice for Others
Life is short. Take some time off. Pack light. Walk slowly. So much to see. So good to feel a part of the natural rhythm of life.
