General Comments

Previously completed end to end April/May 2010 - Track was dryer as we only had 4 hours of rain while hiking. 4 lost shelters was most unfortunate but Track is generally in good condition. Met many interesting people from Canberra, England, Taiwa, Japan, Singapore and Austria.

Food/Supplies Comments

Had prepared dehydrated food. Plenty of opportunity for niceties in Track towns.

Favourite Section

Walpole National Park.

Highlights

Walpole Tinglewood trees, swimming at Boat Harbour and William Bay. Scenery along the south coast. Wildflowers and orchids from Perth to Collie.

Personal Reactions

Following a few unseasonal hot days the benefit of an early start (ie 5.30 am) proved a bonus.

Wildlife

Saw many kangaroos, particularly big reds in the south. Tiger snakes and dugites were in their numbers. Bird life fantastic.

Your Best Equipment

Hi-Tech boots - not one blister and very comfortable.

Your Worst Equipment

Fortunately my equipment is proven and stood up well.

Advice for Others

Gaters below the knee are essential. Don’t underestimate water requirements.
