General Comments

Get walk had rest weekends in track towns, which added some cultural flavour to the wildness of the walk. Did make for a few double huts during the week but definitely worth while. The food down South is amazing!

Food/Supplies Comments

I used backcountry and the outdoor gourmet company freeze dried meals. But I didn’t to; pasta snacks, noodles, and tuna sachets were available in almost every track town (Donnelly river excluding) IGA and often took up less room in my pack.

Favourite Section

Beedelup through to Rame head was a beautiful mix of Karri, swamps, and sand dunes,

Highlights

Lake Maringup took my breath away! Sunrise over Mt Cuthbert was awe inspiring and I loved hanging out at Mt Wells fire lookout. Pemberton and Denmark have to be my favourite track town stops though.

Personal Reactions

An amazing experience beautiful places well maintained paths. Walk so much, my physical reaction was lost about 10kg and now pants don’t fit.

Wildlife

Saw no snakes the entire time… Must be the only one. Lots of startled Kangaroos and Wallabies, a fair few fleeing Emu, Goannas, Quokkas, a one gigantic Wild Pig, a couple of cats, and over friendly birds at campsites.

Your Best Equipment

Pulsar primaloft jacket - MacPac; packed down to nothing, superlight weight, super warm and easily washed and dried.
Jet boil. Thermarest polite plus mat. Solar monkey adventurer

Your Worst Equipment

Steripen ultra- just didn’t need it.

Advice for Others

Keep your pack light, be smart about your walking. If it’s going to be hot, start early so you don’t have to carry kilo’s of water. Buy a quality long rain jacket. Take plenty of chocolate!
