General Comments

I did this hike primarily as a retirement gift to my husband of 44 years. We agree its the best thing we have ever done. We have since dedicated our walk to the memory of a dear friend who died while we were walking.

Food/Supplies Comments

We preferred to support the small towns. Found them all to be helpful and interested. North Bannister Roadhouse not interested though.

Favourite Section

I love going over Mt Cooke.

Highlights

The chuditch at Ball Creek campsite at midnight on 26/03/06. Sharing campsites with many interesting people.

Personal Reactions

Some of the areas are personally challenging but I had to face them (there is no backing out). Good to overcome fears: canoe leg, suspension bridge!!

Wildlife

Chuditch at Ball Creek, brushtail wallabies, kangaroos, emus, many birds.

Your Best Equipment

Walking poles, down sleeping bag liner.

Your Worst Equipment

Have learnt a lot since first walks. Thanks to other walkers. Our gear is pretty good now.

Advice for Others

Don’t forget to plan for days off in the towns. Shower, good bed, good food, newspaper, a footy match on TV - all set you up for the next section. Don’t spend too long off the Track though.
