General Comments

Was harder than I had imagined. Really excited to do it but then after getting to Donnelly River I wanted to stop (worn out because we took it too fast). Rest day every 7th day which reinvigorates your ‘walking spirit’.

Food/Supplies Comments

The packet pasta meals were a great way to eat providing you added extra meat for protein.

Favourite Section

Pemberton to Woolbales.

Highlights

Waking up before down and seeing the landscape shrouded in mist. Surveying the landscape on top of ;Mt Cooke. Viewing the Southern Ocean at Mandalay Beach.

Personal Reactions

Loved being surrounded by nature and have 8-12 hours of silence to reflect on things.

Wildlife

Many kangaroo and emus. A highlight was coming across a shy echidna. Plenty of snakes particularly Pemberton to Mandalay.

Your Best Equipment

Deuter backpack.

Advice for Others

Get good well broken in shoes. Don’t rush the trail if you have plenty of time to do it.
