General Comments

‘A dream fulfilled!’  We came to walk and walk we did.  We walked amongst the bush, the giants, the fungi, the dunes and the heath - we laughed, we smiled and laughed louder on the harder days.  We followed beautiful stories encouraging us on and made some amazing lifelong friends.

Food/Supplies Comments

Stocking up in all towns was more than adequate, we found the beautiful town of Balingup general store the best.

Favourite Section

Peaceful Bay to Boat Harbour - full of excitement and adventure - the canoes, the showgrounds, views and location of the campsite.  Favourite shelter ‘Beraking’.

Highlights

The views from the top of Boonering Hill.  Meeting the Southern Ocean after 6 weeks walking - truly magical.  Canoe crossing at sunrise! The view from Rame Head and our long awaited swim in Boat Harbour.

Personal Reactions

We came to see the land, the fauna and flora WA had to offer and we were by no means disappointed - we’ve seen so much!

Wildlife

Kangaroos galore, quendas, 2 emus, brush tailed possums, bush rats (fat ones), many mice, wedge tailed eagle and 3 kites, racehorse goanna, king skink, bobtail, tiger snakes and 10 dugites, lots of cobwebs (in the face, but not many spiders) - lots of bees and hundreds of mosquitos.

Your Best Equipment

We spent a long time researching kit & equipment, so ultimately we didn’t have any items that let us down - to our relief.  Our Osprey packs, MSR Dragonfly stove (though a little noisy) and our walking poles were amongst our best equipment.  Poles we hadn’t used previously but highly recommended.

Advice for Others

Keep pushing on because tomorrow is never as tough as yesterday!
