General Comments
Beautiful Track, great variety in scenery, campsites well maintained. Track much more challenging than expected. Instead of being just long it was long AND up - down - up - down - up - down…..
Food/Supplies Comments
Track towns in adequate distance, even the long stretch Kalamunda to Dwellingup nothing to worry about. Loved the shop/café in DRV.
Favourite Section
Hard to pick, probably anything along near water, river creek, dam, inlet and the ocean. Of course quite unexpectedly wading from Mt Chance to Woolbales (instead of walking) was so much fun. Just put on sandals and enjoy the puddles!
Personal Reactions
Quite a struggle in the beginning but very soon it just felt ‘normal’ to walk every day and in the end I felt sad it was all over. Could’ve just gone on walking….
Wildlife
Lots of roos, snakes, skinks, one or the other. Emu but just one echidna in 7 weeks. Oh yes, and spiders, flies, ticks, mossies…
Your Best Equipment
My brave feet.
Your Worst Equipment
Probably sleeping bag: lightweight but not warm enough on some ‘freezing’ nights I had in October.
Advice for Others
Always make sure you know which way you need to go in the morning. I once walked back to where I had just come from the other day but luckily realized it after 2 or so km. Happened to another walker the next day at the next campsite and he had to walk an extra 10 km that day.
