General Comments
Excellent work by all those concerned with the Track. Its good to arrive at the campsite at the end of a hard days walk. Being an independent solo walker found the company of others at night very interesting. As I have taken 7 years to complete the whole track I’ve noticed an increase in foot traffic, I am concerned that we could in future ” love” our great track to death.
Food/Supplies Comments
I organized all my own food and drop offs with minor top ups in towns. All of the town accommodation along the way was excellent and all the people very helpful.
Favourite Section
Many… The best for me: Northcliffe to Woolbales.
Highlights
The silent and beautiful Gardner River. Maringup campsite.
Wildflowers of the southern coast.
Personal Reactions
Walking solo for 5 days with seeing another walker. A mid-life challenge that was a joy to complete the E2E.
Wildlife
The usual, kangaroos, a few emus, plenty of birds, snakes in summer time, bandicoots, etc, etc.
Your Best Equipment
My ” down” sleeping bag which I purchased in 1977, it still suit my needs for good nights sleep.
Your Worst Equipment
Carrying the tent was a pain.
Advice for Others
Plan your trip carefully and allow for rest days. Be flexible in your time table ’ just in case you’re delayed.”
Have a good second pair of ’ old’ shoes to wear around the campsites. Your feet are a high priority, so look after them. Expect the unexpected. Safety always comes first.
