General Comments

Beautiful track, absolutely unique with the shelters + toilets, which is perfect for the first long distance walk

Food/Supplies Comments

We bought food as we went - in the track towns. For the last section (Dwellingup to Kalamunda) we got ourselves an trail angel (Robin) , who was just lovely and courteous. We met her at sullivans Rock.

Favourite Section

Peaceful Bay (because of the Fish & Chips) to Giants to Woolbales - very nice hopping between dunes and karri forest

Highlights

“Swimming” at Mandalay Beach
Every food at the track towns’ diners and restaurants
Canoeing
Breakfast buffet at Karri Forest Resort
Every kangoroo and wallabi we saw
Climbing the Gloucester tree
Hot chocolate and marshmallows at the fire pit
Meeting other hikers, especially Bob

Personal Reactions

So thankfull for the heartwarming care all the volunteers take of the track,
Especially thankfull for Robin, because she didn’t bother to meet us spontaneously for handing our food over personally

Wildlife

We saw lots of kangaroos and wallabis, surely more than we spent days on the track, also one very gorgeous echidna, a few wild Emus and lots of wonderful birds. The ferries, robins and of course Kookaburras. And spiders, one red bigger one and a few tiny ones. Lots of lizards, snakes nearly every day on the coastal part

Your Best Equipment

Our trangia! May be heavy, but we loved the two pots, which made it possible to cook meals with variety and to eat at the same time

Your Worst Equipment

The 7m clothes line, we used it and the length was good, but it was annoying, too. It got tangled up a lot.

Advice for Others

Don’t bother to get yourself an Track angel, they are very kind and helpful. Speak to other hikers you meet, ask them about food spots or any recommendations or how they solve some “problems” you might have, you won’t be disappointed
Go to the Karri valley Resort for a Breakfast or a buffet on weekends (even if it means +2km - it’s worth it)
