General Comments
Thank you so much to all the volunteers who maintain this track. This has to be one of the most accessible and well-maintained tracks in the world. You can see the love that people have for the track every step of the way.
Food/Supplies Comments
I just bought supplies in town as I went along and had no issues - I’m vegetarian too. No need to send packages if you’re not picky. The Woolworths in Collie was a treat though!
Favourite Section
The Tingle forest outside of Walpole was absolutely magical. It really felt like I was in an enchanted forest.
Highlights
Coming into camp each afternoon and feeling so accomplished with what you achieved that day - then waking up the next morning to do it all again.
Personal Reactions
I was surprised at how peaceful I became. Very rarely did I experience any struggle or frustration with the track, hiking, or pain. I was just happy to be there and it became the easiest thing in the world to walk all day long.
Wildlife
It was fairly quiet most days but I did see wrens, cockatoos, kookaburra, emus, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, lizards, and one echidna.
Your Best Equipment
I loved pretty much everything I brought in my 7kg pack. Favourite item was a luxury - my Kindle.
Your Worst Equipment
Probably my sleep socks, they were a size too small.
Advice for Others
Just pick a date and do it! There will always be reasons to put it off, life always gets in the way, but life is too short to not make the most of your health and time you have.
