General Comments

West Australians are fortunate to have this great walk right on their doorstep.
Thanks to the BTF, Parks & Wildlife and the track volunteers for all the great work!

Food/Supplies Comments

Tried the Spicy Lentils recipe from the Bibbulmun News Magazine (Issue 71) and is now a staple. Sports drink powder to assist with hydration and keep cramps away.

Favourite Section

Donelly River Village to Pemberton for the majestic
Karri Forrests and rivers -  not so much for the hills.

Highlights

Walking & camping in Karri Forests.
Ocean views in the Southern Section.

Personal Reactions

Good : Oceans, forests, rivers, solitude and people you encounter.
Bad:  A dose of tank water belly. Heavy backpack.
Why: hills jumping onto the path when entering a town with the trailhead almost in view.

Wildlife

Best - Echidnas near Dwellingup.
Not the Best - Tiger Snakes sunbaking in bushes at knee height.

Your Best Equipment

Ultralight Sleeping Mat - covered with a sleeping bag liner for squeaky noise reduction.

Your Worst Equipment

Ultralight Sleeping Mat - NOT covered with a sleeping bag liner for squeaky noise reduction.

Advice for Others

Do as much as possible to travel lightly.  On my first section my pack weight was almost 30 kg (why, why, why)…  have worked on reducing this and a lighter load makes the hiking easier and more enjoyable.
