Personal Locating Beacons (PLBs)

If you wish to hire a Personal Locating Beacon (PLB) please complete the PLB booking and disclaimer form and send it to us so that it arrives no less than 5 business days prior to hire. These PLB's operate on the new 406 MHz frequency.

Please read the PLB Instructions for Use before you take the PLB on your outdoor adventure.

Note that the new PLB's are required to be registered to the user. All mandatory fields on the booking form must be completed before a hire will be approved. The Foundation will register the beacon for you. Read more.

Please book early! Our equipment is in high demand during the walking season (April to November). PLB's are often booked out months in advance.

Food Dehydrators - available to members only

What is a food dehydrator?

A food dehydrator is an appliance that removes moisture from food to aid in its preservation. A food dehydrator uses heat and air flow to reduce the water content of foods. The water content of food is usually very high, typically 80% to 95% for various fruits and vegetables and 50% to 75% for various meats. Removing moisture from food restrains various bacteria from growing and spoiling food. Further, removing moisture from food dramatically reduces the weight of the food. Thus, food dehydrators are excellent way to carry foods when bushwalking.

The Ezi-dri food dehydrator comes with an instruction and recipe book, 5 trays, 1 mesh sheet and 4 solid sheets for liquids.

Ezidri Dehydrators have gratefully supplied the Foundation with two food dehydrators at a reduced cost so that they can be hired out to members. We thank them for their support. Visit Ezidri Dehydrators at www.ezidridehydrators.com.au
