What should I do to prepare for a day walk?
A popular day walk from Perth is Sullivan Rock to Mt Cooke campsite return with an optional walk to Mt Cooke summit (12.4km or 17.4km). To get to Sullivan Rock travel down the Albany Highway, 28km from Armadale. Sullivan Rock carpark is 9km after the Jarrahdale turnoff on the right. Look for the Bibbulmun Track sign.
See our Track Towns pages for some suggested walks in each area. For further suggestions select one of our day walk map packs below.

This fantastic eco-tourism initiative was designed and developed by Tourism Western Australia and the Bibbulmun Track Foundation. Its aim is to encourage local West Australians and visitors from overseas and interstate to enjoy the magic of the South West forests and the beauty of the creatures that live there.
The Red-tailed Black Cockatoo is one of Australia’s most spectacular birds, but is at risk of being threatened due to habitat destruction. The WA Museum and the Department of Environment and Conservation aims to better understand the distribution, lifecycle and breeding patterns of the cockatoo as part of the efforts to prevent future decline in the population.
The report cards are returned at the end of the trip and forwarded to the WA Museum to contribute to their Cockatoo Care research and will help protect the Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo. Walking on the Bibbulmun Track couldn’t be easier, so get your day walk map pack today.
