General Comments

I finally finished my sectional end to end in early October 2014, after first walking the Bibbulmun Track in 1997, not long after listening to an introduction to The Bibb Track talk given by the great Jesse Brampton. My wife and I actually had part of our honeymoon on the track and I completed a big bit Dwellingup to Albany when on long service leave in 2006.

Food/Supplies Comments

I was fun packing all my rations in advance. By the time I got to a given days rations it was like “Wow here’s a little chocolate bar!”

Favourite Section

It’s like splitting chips but the Pingerup Plains between Northcliffe and Walpole is an incredible landscape. You have a profound sense of isolation and can really feel the spirituality of the landscape.

Highlights

Watching the sunset from the granite hilltops of Mt Chance and Woolbales and the excitement of reaching the Southern Ocean at Mandalay Beach.

Personal Reactions

Walking for weeks on end surrounded by just beauty and nature is an experience too few of us make time for. The Bibb always calls me back. Thanks for the wonderful track friends I’ve made. And my wonderful wife Anna (aka She of The Plastic Pants) who has also walked much of the track besides me and who has been my “support crew” keeping the home fires burning at times and delivering food boxes for me.

Wildlife

Inquisitive Kangaroos that followed me for a while on the coastal section.

Your Best Equipment

Good hiking boots and a little collapsible bottle that enabled me to carry some red wine with me at all times!

Your Worst Equipment

Almost freezing to death at Swamp Oak one night beacuse my sleeping bag wasn’t really up to it. Moral of the story, invest in good gear, you won’t regret it.

Advice for Others

Don’t delay, get out there. The great thing about the Bibb Track is that it never really ends, you can always go back and walk the way of the great Wagyl again!
