General Comments
While the cold and wet weather was at times challenging, I enjoyed seeing the unique flora, fauna, fungi and vistas, especially away from the noise of road, air traffic and industry. I also enjoyed meeting people from diverse backgrounds.
Food/Supplies Comments
We started out with dehydrated meals and restocked with whatever we could get along the way. North Bannister and Balingup the most difficult for food and gas.
Favourite Section
Monadnocks to Mt Cooke and the Pingerup Plains.
Highlights
Seeing our first orchid near Harris River. The friendly quenda at Torbay campsite. Reaching the southern terminus.
Personal Reactions
A sense of achievement. Admiration for the dedication of volunteers working with DEC. Amazed by the sense of pride even WA non-walkers have for the Track.
Wildlife
Kangaroos, brush tailed wallabies, emus, woylies, mardoo, quenda, numerous birds especially in the south. Did not see one possum.
Your Best Equipment
Trekking poles, down sleeping bag and Fixomull.
Your Worst Equipment
One pair of old socks - discarded in Collie.
Advice for Others
