General Comments

I’m really proud of my achievement to complete this legendary walk. My first tentative steps were with my then 14 year old son. Several years later, Nick and I started our sectional walk, completing it over four years. At first it was a hobby. At Pemberton, finishing became a realistic goal and now it is a badge of honour.

Food/Supplies Comments

Keep the snacky foods to a minimum. Take care to only take what you really need, not what you’d like. Leave the wine at home.

Favourite Section

Karri forests followed by the South Coast.

Highlights

Reaching the South Coast. Tame wild animals unaffected by humans.Being bitten on the toe whilst sleeping at Monadnocks by a possum who took a liking to my possum fur socks. Seeing the shelter each night and having a warm water wash-down.

Personal Reactions

I am not the only person to have achieved and E2E, not the first and not the last. But “I” have done it. I have overcome the challenges, I made it happen.

Wildlife

12 snakes from Walpole to Albany. Tame kangaroos unaffected by humans. Osprey hunting in a pair over Boat Harbour campsite.

Your Best Equipment

Careful purchases to improve gear after each sectional walk.

Your Worst Equipment

Left at home were jeans, heavy packs, and thin sleeping bags.

Advice for Others

Be courageous. Put one foot in front of the other. Learn from others.
