General Comments
In general this is a world class track. There are sections that are overgrown and poorly marked which detract a bit from it. At times it seemed to me to be over circuitous (walking north west when actually heading south east, when not walking around points of interest.
Food/Supplies Comments
Only walked for up to 8 days at a time, so always carried food prepared mostly at home in the dehydrator.
Favourite Section
Waalegh campsite and the Blackwood River area.
Highlights
Australian Poetry Readings around a campfire, completing 3 sections (over 50kms) in 15 hours (Boat Harbour to Nullakai). Drinks at the end of a walk.
Personal Reactions
Started off as an adventure and isolation and ended up as a physical challenge and isolation.
Wildlife
More snakes as I got further south. A bandicoot opened my pack at Mt Cooke and another one chewed my pack at Torbay.
Your Best Equipment
Candle lantern, Fixomul (Fix-em-all).
Your Worst Equipment
A Rechargeable lantern, it was too heavy.
Advice for Others
Sunscreen, mozzie net and gaiters a must for the south coastal areas. If you are questioning whether or not you might need an item - you don’t, leave it behind. Pack light.
