General Comments

Our initial walk of 3.5 weeks was from Albany to Pemberton in 2004, followed by 3 sectional walks between Pemberton and Collie in 2004 and 2005, finished off by a three week walk from Collie to Kalamunda in May 2006.  We enjopyed every day and always enjoyed getting back out there.  Track and shelters were a credit to all involved.

Food/Supplies Comments

We prepared our own food supplies and did food drops at all major towns along with accommodation reservations.  Ate like kings - Peter always provided me with delightful meals by candlelight every night.

Favourite Section

Too many to mention - did not even have one which wasn’t a favourite.

Highlights

Meeting lots of wonderful people - some more than once over the end to end period - sharing/listening to their life experiences and trekking advice.

Personal Reactions

Always found it hard for the first couple of days (especially with feet and blisters) and then didn’t want to finish.

Wildlife

Noticed a lack of wildlife in remote areas, with largest concentrations near the towns.  Did see kangaroos, pig, emus, wallabies (near Nerang) lots of snakes and galahs.

Your Best Equipment

Goosedown sleeping bag for those cold nights and a mosquito net to keep out the mozzies.

Your Worst Equipment

Full size (knee length) gaiters, they caused sweating and rashes.  After first trip changed these for smaller gaiters - which were excellent.

Advice for Others

Take treats for rewards after the hard sections and those moments when you need a lift.  Walk with a partner/friend where possible - allows for sharing of experiences and wonderful company in the shelters.
