General Comments
What a way to spend a honeymoon, none of these trips to Tahiti for us. We survived the walk together, so our marriage should survive anything. Well worth the long walk.
Food/Supplies Comments
Food was good in most places, other than at Gringer Creek and Balingup (both places had just changed ownership).
Favourite Section
Brockman Highway to Donnelly River - magical Karri trees.
Highlights
Sitting on top of Mt Cooke on a hot day, being cooled by the lovely breeze. Also the lunch stop beneath a large granite rock on Mt Cooke looking out over the eastern forest. Sunset from Tower Hill at William Bay campsite. Lunch at the Graphite Cafe (One Tree Bridge) when we didn’t even know it was there.
Personal Reactions
Glad for some cool weather and one day of rain. The track was very quiet (good for us). I was amazed at how close to civilization we kept finding ourselves.
Wildlife
Yes there’s still plenty of wildlife out there. Amazed at how many black cockatoos we saw. Love those tiger snakes daily visits too!
Your Best Equipment
“Wilson”, my trusty walking stick, I never leave home without him.
Your Worst Equipment
Sleeping bag liner - a total dead weight in summer.
Advice for Others
Take your time and enjoy the walk. We rushed it and missed out on breaks in the beautiful towns down south. Don’t do a 45 km day fololwed by 38.6 kms.
