- Direction Walked: North to South
- Others in Group:
Deborah Hancox, Conor Hancox (11 year old son).
General Comments
Great to walk with my family as it improved the relationships with each other. It was quite different from the walk completed in February - March 2001. Great time to walk with only a few hot days.
Food/Supplies Comments
“BE NATURAL’ bars were the best food we had. North Bannister should be avoided.
Favourite Section
Walpole to Denmark - good track - great scenery.
Highlights
Standing on the hill behind Boat Harbour shelter at sun set with storm clouds and a wild sea and sunlight breaking through the clouds.
Personal Reactions
I did not want the simplicity of life on the Track to end.
Wildlife
I drew the short straw to lead the Dyhards through spider alley near Woolbales.
Your Best Equipment
Scarpa boots - correct size. MSR stove.
Your Worst Equipment
All worked well.
Advice for Others
Use strapping on hot spots on feet and if blister form, wick them at night, remove the wick in the morning before applying a ‘Bandaid blister pack’ and cover with strapping. Leave them four to five days.
