Track maintenance volunteers
The ‘Eyes on the Ground’ Maintenance Programme coordinated by the Bibbulmun Track Foundation, is sponsored by Boddington Gold Mine.
Volunteers adopt a section of the Bibbulmun Track and are trained by the Foundation and DEC to look after it. The volunteers’ role is essential in ensuring that the Track remains well-kept and well-loved.
Specific sections of the Track are assigned to individuals or teams who visit their section regularly to report on maintenance requirements. Volunteers report missing or misleading signage, litter, erosion, environmental concerns, inappropriate usage such as damage by mountain bikes, damage to structures or facilities, and level of tank water at the campsite.

Maintenance Volunteers also carry out basic maintenance tasks such as pruning, removing rubbish and light debris, and replacing missing trail markers. They also collect and replace the campsite registers.
The services of the Maintenance Volunteers are vital to the future of the Bibbulmun Track and rewards are offered by the Department of Environment and Conservation and Mountain Designs WA as a gesture of thanks for their generous work
Other volunteer opportunities
Working for the Foundation is a great way of developing a sense of ownership and involvement. There are many ways to get involved.
We have office volunteers who assist with general phone and door enquiries, event bookings, merchandise sales and even stuffing envelopes! Regular office volunteers must have a sound knowledge of the Track. Good computer skills are not essential but preferred. Generally office volunteers are required to come in on a regular basis, preferably at least once a week, but we would appreciate any time volunteers are able to give us. Some volunteers can only come in now and then, and that's fine as well! Three times a year we have mass mail outs and volunteers are also required for other one-off tasks like these.
Several times a year we showcase the Bibbulmun Track at expos and shows where we require volunteers to assist at display stands and talk to passers-by about the Track.
No matter what sort of volunteer you would like to be, all volunteers are DEC registered, trained, insured and provided with an identity badge.
