The Spirit of the Bibbulmun – The Jim Freeman Award
This award is given each year to the team that not only cares for the environment but has a mutual respect and care for each other and other teams. During the course of the Challenge, all teams are watched very carefully and this award is given irrespective of scores and team performance in activities. We are proud to announce that this year’s Spirit of the Bibbulmun Award was given to PSN Water. Well done!

Many thanks to all who helped to make the Challenge and the Awards Night a huge success. In addition to the above sponsors who donated prizes, thank you also to
• The Red Cross WA for the use of “Resus Annie” during the Challenge
• Oranje Tractor Wines for donating the wine
Special thanks must go to sponsor Mountain Designs who without their ongoing generous support the Bibbulmun Team Challenge would not be as successful as what it is.
Finally, thank you to all the organisations and individuals that participated in this year's Challenge. It is champions like you who help the Bibbulmun Track Foundation keep the spirit of the Bibbulmun Track alive! We hope to see you in teams again next year. Registrations for next year's Challenge open early in 2008.

First Heat Results
Congratulations to Newmont for winning the first heat for 2007! Newmont took the lead early on, but were certainly faced with a fight from other teams with the 400 point lead decreasing to less than 60 points by the second day. It was a close battle for a while and placings changed through the heat.
We only lost Brad for a short time - though he didn't think he was lost and it wasn't long before he was welcomed back into the fold. There were lots of screams, some from the withdrawal from tim tams and some from the strain of a heavy pack! But Westone (1) showed us all when to face facts when things aren't going your way and not only leave people for dead but also take their pants!

Well done to all four teams who finished in this order: Newmont, The Ninja Turtles (NAB), PWC and WestOne (1). Newmont are now in the running for Challenge Champions 2007 to be announced at the awards night on Wednesday 7th November.

Here is an account of the heat according to the Ninja Turtles (NAB-1).
It was the best of times
It was the worst of times
It was the grimiest of times
But hey we had the blimiest of times!

It was ticks in the arse
It was sweaty socks
It was freeze dried crap
It was crunchy jocks!
But sure the mood was high
And the craic was right
We came together as a team
And as turtles we did fight!
Turtle Power!
Second Heat Results
Congratulations to WHELANS for winning the second heat for 2007! Whelans and Henri's Angels (Aust Red Cross) took charge of the score board early on but NAB (2) and WestOne (2) weren't going to leave them at it alone. The scores were much closer in this heat but Whelans hung on to the lead despite some hard won challenges from the other teams.
Things were looking grim for WestOne at 5am as we departed Perth with one team member short! As I said - don't be late - the bus will leave without you! But the little 'Ray'of sunshine caught up to us at the first night's camp and got straight into it - what a champ!
Ticks were the order of the day - if collecting them were a challenge, NAB and WestOne - or more to the point Wade from NAB and Ray from WestOne - would have scored the most points.
The teams were very competitive and it seemed that whether to take part in some activities or not depended on whether you supoorted the Eagles or the Dockers, how well you could sing or the size of your bike rack! (???)
Well done to all four teams who finished in this order: Whelans, Red Cross, NAB (2) and WestOne (2). Whelans are now in the running for Challenge Champions 2007 to be announced at the awards night on Wednesday 7th November.

Here is the story of the heat according to the NAB boys.
We were happy to be out of the office. However competitive, we were a bit lackluster on the first day.
Gibbo snored!
Second day our competitive performance improved. We climbed a bloody big hill and we won a [nice prize].
Gibbo snored!

Day 3 we won a few more competitions. We didn't know what quartz was!
We found Jessica and solved the riddle.
Gibbo snored!
Last day we learned that bankers aren't builders. We can stretch it out though and drink plenty of beer.
We've met some great people and had some great times. And one thing is for sure.... later tonight
Gibbo will snore!
Third Heat Results
Congratulations to Blue Thunder (Anglogold Ashanti) for winning this heat. WestOne (second place) claimed the lead early on and held it for a while albeit by a close margin. Australia Post (third place) crept close to second place but were kept at bay by BankWest (fourth place). In the end though Anglogold surged forward and won the heat.
Australia Post did very well, doing their utmost not to let being one team member down affect their performance - they had the other teams on the run! In the face of adversity they stuck together and did their best. The weather was not kind to us at all. Near 30 degree temperatures on the first day and freezing and wet conditions on Friday afternoon and Saturday made challenges more difficult. With all that, we lost an hours sleep on Saturday night with the onset of Daylight Savings!
Nevertheless each team excelled where they recognised their strengths and worked harder when they found weaknesses to produce the best result. Here is the heat according to Australia Post.
We boarded the bus so full of pride, by Boonering Hill things were starting to slide
By night time at White Horse Hills we had some tucker, Norm had some noodles, next day we lost the bugger!
As soon as Norm's departure came, bloody hell, it started to rain
With the rain and the pain, Mt Wells we conquered to our gain
Mt Wells, Mt Wells, Mt Wells, is there a place 1000 degrees colder than hell?
Day 3 and the blue boys played a blinder, but on the Track we weren't so far behind ya!
Chadoora wasn't really as hard, Old Jim regaled us - what a card.
We've done the yards, we've seen the end
We did it hard, not many props, just remember, the mail never stops!
By the way there was never any fear, we only made it for the beer!
Fourth Heat Results

Congratulations to the Dept of Environment and Conservation (DEC) for winning the last Heat of the 2007 Challenge.
