Kalamunda

Our 60-day journey ended today, Saturday September 13, 2008.

At Asher Road, we were joined by the Hon John Kobelke MLA, who walked with us for the last 10km into Kalamunda. Shortly after the local Scouts also joined us to help us celebrate the last few kilometres.

We reached Spring Rd in plenty of time. There we were greeted by the Hon David Templeman MLA, the Hon Margaret Quirk MLA, and a crowd of friends and volunteers from the Foundation.

The colourful costumes, drums and whistles of Bloco do Norte led the march to the Northern Terminus.

The scouts were the next to emerge at the Northern Terminus.

The official walkers were then greeted by a guard of honour - Bibbulmun Track style - by fellow walkers.

Walkers were soon reunited with family.

Hundreds of people attended the event at the Northern Termnius and the reception was absolutely overwhelming.

At the event, Peter Hewett and original Track conceiver, Geoff Schafer meet for the first time since they made the first end-to-end walk in 1979.

The Kalamunda Shire presented us with a bell which is to be rung each time a walker finishes their walk at the Northern Terminus. Today I was given the honour of ringing it for the very first time.

The bell is located at the Kalamunda Visitor Information Centre near the Northern Terminus.

The end-to-enders will reunite soon but are especially looking forward to joining Sandy for our next Bibbulmun trek. Sandy set out as an end-to-ender with us in Albany but unfortunately didn't complete the journey with us due to injury. Sandy's determination was outstanding. we can't wait to see her out on the Track soon to complete her end-to-end! We missed you Sandy!

There are so many people to be thanked - far too many to be listed here. A very big thank you to everyone involved, in any way, for truly making this event the journey of a decade!

Pseudo Solo Steve, over and out!
